Recently there was article that stated that Rig Veda had not slokas on Indra. That is patently incorrect.

I am no theologist and neither claim to be a linguist. But, some things are now agreed by humongous majority of the scholars is that Rigveda is the oldest written text among the humanity. Rigveda is backed by huge amount of epigraphic evidence, not only in India but in far Turkey where the oaths and treaties were recorded under the watchful eyes of all powerful God Indra.

Read Indra’s series;

Indraraja’s – इन्द्रराजन III

Indra is the subject of 250 hymns, almost a quarter of Rig Veda. This is not Vishnu. Vishnu is clearly identified as younger brother to Indra, as Upendra. (Deputy Indra).

Indra is the Verethragana of ancient Assyrians and Persians. He became over time the Vahagna (Vrahi Agni) of Armenians later called Vram (Vishnu). Both Agni and Vishnu are Indra’s deputies.

Over time later Sogdians called him Wshn or Vishnu. Manicheans adopted him in their religion as Wryhrm. Kushans the original Aishikas called him Uralgana. (which is actually I think Siva) though Turks call Siva Tenri (from Sankara), husband to Uma (from Uma!).

In Puranas and Epics, Indra even left his post and other Indras took over, likes of Kaushika and Pakashana. Even Nahusha and his brothers Raji and nephew Nriga were Indras. Ancient Chaldeans and Babylonians in hoarier past worshipped Nregala, the lord of heaven (NRIGA!) who is also an Aditya and is supported by seven wise men (Sobitti or saptarishi). In ancient Egypt, Indra is Horus. Our HARI.

In ancient Brham-Yasht of Persians, Verathragana is backed by Tishtrya and Vayu (Twastha and other fellow has similar sounding Indian name I am forgetting!) They still remember his name by naming the region where his ancient Devastahnas were as Mazendran or Region of Mazda (God) Indra. The region where he was assisted by Asta Vahishtha or Ashtha Vasu.

The Chinese call him Vajrapani Dharmapala and in Daoist milieu he is Jade Emperor of Heaven. Japanese call him Tai (Deva) ShakuTen (Shakra) the protector of Sakya Muni. The Sakya and Sakra dichotomy is interesting here.

Creation Story

In the oldest Puranas, the re-creation in between kalpas start off thus.

Vayu is the first and transitory form of Brahma at the end of a Cosmic Night, when Narayana wakes up, Brahma, being Vayu, moves over the Ocean and looks for means to dive and raise the Earth from the bottom of the Ocean, as Rochana the divine Thread of the Universe. This is the first appearance of Life and Movement, where the wind and the vital breath cannot be dissociated which then becomes the Purusha and Prakriti is set in motion.

Indraraja’s – इन्द्रराजन्

When it all ends, at end of Kalpa when Siva unleashes the Pralaya, the all-shattering wind god Vayu becomes Prabhanjana and destroys the universe.

So Brahma creates the Prajapatis in beginning of the dawn. Prajapati Ruci is father of Yagneya and Rochana. The Movement and the Thread for the earth. That is created by Prajapati RUCI with his wife Akuti.

So Brahma’s two grandsons Yagneya and Rochana are the aspects that drive the Brahma to raise the Earth from the celestial Antariksha like ocean through RUCI who stays in the ocean. Yagneya is the primordial Indra. The Sutra is Rochana, his number two and eventual replacement as Indra.

Rudra is another son of Brahma and thus, uncle to Yagneya & Rochana grandsons of Brahma.

The reason the human relationships are emphasized by the ancient Texts is exactly that. There is no one superior or inferior. Everyone is a family. If you cannot understand that then there are other monotheistic religions available for you to share your faith. The Santana Dharma has no place for comparisons between its pantheon members.

Yagneya is the unique occurrence of both Avatara and Indra cycle. He is both Avatar and Indra. He is Vishnu before Vishnu and Indra before Indra. He and Rocana (and Prana the first breath of life) are omnipresent in all Kalpas and are needed for the kick-start. There are others too let us focus on Indra.

Yagneya is the ultra powerful all powerful supreme King and Lord. He is the powerful Indra of the Rigveda.

(He is the inspiration for and anticipates Odin the all-father, (some say it is Dhara Vasu), Zeus and Jupiter. (again son of Dyaus Rishi is major inspiration for Zeus and Jupiter). Yagneya is reborn as Krishna. Not the other way round. )

If Yagneya is so powerful, so is Ruci the INTEREST.

He is the INTEREST WHICH WAKES NARAYANA from the sleep. The AMBITION OF LIFE. THE TASTE. The separation of JEEVA from Parmatma. Ruci is among all powerful and all knowledgeable. Created from the winds themselves, Ruci is thus the first Vayu. Proto-Vayu. Ruci is also proto-Dharma, the first Dharma. RUCI ‘s wife is Akuti who is reborn as Radha. So, if someone is trying to claim Rigvedic Indra is Vishnu then umm, you have mythological paradox. There are other sons too five of them. It is always five with the denizens beyond the river Indus for some reason!

His second son Rochana or Rocana is the heart of Universe itself. He is the thread that binds the universe together. (Literally String Theory). He is Prana vayu himself. He is the second Indra. In his heart, his being he manifests the Fire of the big bang, hiranyagarbha srishti in his belly, that fire Vrika, gives him the name Vrikodara.

Back to Indra Hari Vishnu and All the Siva Vishnu fights

So repeating myself (a tamsika activity)

I am going to tell you two stories. Lambi kahaniyan. Then I am going to comment on them. If I have learnt anything from reading the texts of our forbearer’s is that good story with random branch-outs and away from point narrations are somehow key to the understanding. I believe that is why Sahrzad was able to keep that conversation going for thousand and one nights, she was a brahamrishi in disguise, and that is first point you should remember, the god and his/her/para holy men/women/Plan xers from outerspace come in all sizes and shapes.
